Hunter Clark obtain "freestone" from a number of sources with careful consideration being given to texture and colouring required for specific projects. 200 tonnes of random quarried blocks of the most commonly used sandstones are held in stock.

Hunter Clark's 14 no. automated primary and secondary stone working machines reduce the random blocks to sized ashlar and plain and profiled stone dressings ready for high quality hand finishing in the workshops or on site.

Hunter Clark's trained masons can form any stone dressing to the required profile for window tracery, door surrounds, lintels, quoins, arches, pediments, classical columns, capitals and bases, gables, buttresses and parapets along with mouldings and ornate string and cornice courses.

This in-house facility is of particular benefit on restoration projects where a regular flow of dimensioned stone can be prepared within a few days of receiving the first of the cutting lines.

Skilled in Carving Stone

Our craftsmen have recently been asked to hand carve 100 stone celtic crosses approximately 2ft high for the Archdiocese of Glasgow.

We have also crafted gargoyles, ornate fish even faces carved into stone, one such facial carving can be found in St Stephens church Glasgow.
